Brandy | The Toxic Heart
"Hurt, a four letter word with so much power. But that power can easily be destroyed with time along with the will to let it go. Reliving and transference fuels fiery pain. The flames are fed by the refusal to come out of the past and not moving forward with forgiveness and freedom. Holding on to hurt keeps you from living and being grateful for life."
Brandy Sullivan appears to be a woman who has it all together, however readers will quickly learn that she’s living in a world in which she despises.
After dealing with abuse in many forms within her own home, Brandy eventually escapes. Yet she carries the weight of the post trauma as she tries to move on with her life. While the world continues to turn, Brandy is stuck wondering if love will give her more than what she received.

Jay | The cause of the TOXIC HEART!
Brandy’s no-good boyfriend who would allow his woman to go out late at night to buy his useless items, without giving her money to cover them. There was no concern for her safety, just as long as she returned with what he wanted. Jay was a hood dude. In and out of jail for petty crimes, wanting money the fast way instead of working for it. His jail tour started at the age of 18, helping friends rob a convenience store. He got away, however one guy from the group wasn’t so lucky and snitched for a reduced sentence. Jay spent two years in jail and received probation for a few years after. In the beginning, the ambition to turn his life around was present, but the conviction made it hard for him to find a job. Using that reasoning as a crutch and a sob story, he fell back into petty crimes for money along with living off others. |
Charles | A Rare Breed
“Charles, are you REALLY single?” Brandy asked in a grim tone. “Or are you one of those guys with a lot of unserious situations?” He didn’t know how to answer that question. Despite Brandy’s doubts, he was indeed 100% single. A rare breed of man fell into her lap. After that question, Charles realized he was dealing with a guarded woman. After taking a moment to gather his thoughts along with settling from the blow of the tone and question, he replied. “I don’t’ have a list of women I juggle around. My son is my world right now. And I want to be a good example for him. Don’t get me wrong now I have done some things in my past that I’m not too proud of, but I learned...The hard way.” Charles took a few seconds to laugh at himself as if he was reminiscing. “I’ve learned that it’s easier to find one good woman. Put all my effort into her instead of splitting my time and MONEY on multiple women.” |
